Szymon Wierny

Hi there. My name is Szymon and I live in Plymouth. In 2019 I will be running Britain's Ocean City Half Marathon for the third time. This year I am supporting a local charity Shekinah. This race will be a very personal experience for me. If you are looking at me today you see an educated individual who developed his career in manufacturing, enjoys spending time with his family and your first feeling might be that my life has always been about achieving goals. However, what If I told you that about 15 years ago I too experienced homelessness. I experienced the feeling of cold, depression, anxiety and all that can be described as road to nowhere. With no home and almost every hope lost I persevered. Along the way came many good people who continued despite challenges to have faith me. They came from various places and all supported me and gave a bit of their time and sometimes a bit of finances to make another day. Over a decade later I am living the life which is different to these dark moments of my life. I am thankful for all people from the past and present. I want to give something back when I can. This race will be a personal and emotional experience. A reminder that life stories are never as simple as what we can see at first sight. Today I kindly ask you to support Shekinah in Plymouth for their work around people who are often hidden from the world around us but they do exist. They exist through their life stories and sometimes what they need is that bit of hope they can find. Thank you kindly. Szymon.
