I'd always wanted to volunteer for a charity but didn't know where to start. I'd heard people talk about Shekinah and thought they sounded like a great organisation to get involved with.

After completing a quick training course I started in the kitchen of Shekinah's homeless drop-in-centre on Bath Street. It's open seven days week, three hundred and sixty five days a year so there's always plenty to do. I loved the feeling of being part of a dynamic team providing an essential service for people in crisis. Since then I've gone on to start working in the drop-in centre and my passion for the work we do and the people we work with has only increased.

If you can contribute in any way ,however small, you'll be contributing to the health, well-being and positive development of real people in Plymouth who use Shekinah's services every day. Thanks for reading and wish me luck with the training!
